“Gosh, you’re such a nice sister”

Image
I get that a lot. I’m not bragging, I’m just repeating what people tell me when I say that I watch my nephew while my sister works. I know it is a big help to my sister, and I love that I am able to do this for her. But that is not the real reason I do it. First off, I only have him 2 days a week. It used to be 3, now it’s 2; so it’s not a full time thing. And wouldn’t you like this face at your house twice a week? Blocks falling off your head is hilarious! This is probably gross, but I couldn’t help record and encourage this. The laughs make it so adorable. The point I am making is this. While you may think I am really “nice”, I don’t do it to be nice. When you have kids, you do things you never would have thought you would. You change your life in small and big ways, just so theirs will be better, no matter the inconvenience to you.       I love doing this. I love when my girls ask if Griffin will be here in the morning. I love when they hear him come in, they c...

One reason my blog has suffered…

Image
But only one reason. There are others, but sadly, taking pictures and learning editing has left little time for blogging my personal family stuff. With all these new changes and new photography venture, there will be blogging, but it will be a different type of blogging. I’ll add to that later, for now, I’ll just put some of this fall’s work out there for y’all to see.   I call these “The Couv’s”. I went to school with Jill and we have remained friends since high school and we even (get ready for it – I know I’m old!) play pokeno together. I took shots of her family and her brothers family and both families together. It was my largest shoot yet. There was so much to edit and look at and pay attention to, it was a bit overwhelming. But the feedback was good and they even gave the pictures to other family members as gifts!   Little Charlotte was a late walker and her mom wanted some pictures of just her, no big sister or big brother to steal her show! She is adorable, and s...

Life is like a box of chocolates.

Silly, I know. But the past few months have shown me how many different random things can come together and form something delicious. I don’t want to give away too much yet, but I’ll start this story with the birth of my first daughter, Marielle. Marielle was born June 2008. I had been wanting some pictures taken of her, but didn’t really know anyone to do it. I knew I didn’t want to go into a studio, I really wanted to be at home, where I’d be comfortable and so would she. I was looking on Myspace (I know, that sounds so foreign now!), and saw that a friend of mine from grade school, and even pre-K, Jennifer, was doing photography. I knew she went into that after school, but didn’t know how far she actually took it. She wasn’t living here in Baton Rouge, but I decided to send her a private message just telling her that if she was ever in town, I’d love for her to take pictures of Marielle. She messaged me back very quickly and said she was going to be in town the next day and she cou...

What would I do without these girls?

I can't think of it. They are so much fun, so much work, and the best things that ever happened to me!!

Something new

My first "session". My friend Carmen asked me to take some pics of her and her little Allie a few months ago. We put a date on the calendar, picked a great spot and met to get some pictures for their Christmas card and maybe some for their house. I was so nervous, I could almost say I was terrified. What if I didn't get one picture that she liked? What if it was too bright and sunny and all the pictures sucked? What if she hated me after this? (Just kidding, she would never and I know it!) As silly as these questions seem, I was really worried about all these things. I dove right in, brought a few "props" that I thought we might use, and started snapping. This was one of the first shots. Carmen is pregnant right now and she also wanted a few of Allie and her baby bump. We didn't get too close on the bump, but I think these turned out really cute.  We kept going and taking more pictures in different settings and I loosened up and relaxed. I think C...

Our little Aliza. She’s getting bigger.

She has officially turned into a 3 year old.   She’s quite the dainty little lady. And I could take pictures of her all day. I went back and forth on whether or not to have a party for her. I didn’t feel like doing it and the guilt of that feeling was horrible. So I sucked it up and had a party at Bouncing Tigers. So, first I had to go online and find an invitation. As I said, I didn’t feel like having a big party, and I also didn’t feel like sending a bunch of invites and making sure everyone got them, yada, yada, yada. So I found an invite at 2 Cute Party Prints on Etsy , custom made for Aliza and I could email them out!! Win-Win! When Aliza saw this invite on my phone, she was totally in love. She couldn’t stop staring at it and kept asking for my phone so she could see her “inverstation” that she was going to “sing” (send) to her friends. So funny!! I tried to correct her, but then I decided not to. It was too cute! So I printed one out for her and she carried it arou...
