Adjusting…

Alright, so Aliza, she sleeps A LOT!! Just not a lot at a time, which is wonderful for a breastfeeding mom. Can you hear the sarcasm? That means not a lot of sleep for me. It is really hard for me to sleep during the day, so I am really just tired all the time. But that is why you have maternity leave, right? To learn how this new little person works and teach them to sleep a long time at night – is that possible?? I’ll try…I had a few good nights, then a really bad one and another good one. I guess it is all up and down for the first few months.

But she is just as precious as she can be. I know people say it’s gas, but I don’t believe it. I will look at her and smile and she smiles back. I just know it. And she has the cutest little dimple on her left cheek. I wish I could get a good picture of it. Its hard to time it just right…

Marielle is really adjusting well to her new little sister. She gives her kisses and hugs anytime she sees her. She doesn’t seem to be jealous, except when my mom wants to hold Aliza!! That is the only time I have seen Marielle get jealous. When I am feeding Aliza or holding her, Marielle just plays or follows me around. I try to spend as much time with her as possible and pay special attention to her so she doesn’t feel left out or neglected. We’ll go for a walk when Marielle gets home from daycare and Aliza will just sleep on me and I can talk and sing songs with Marielle. So far so good…

For Halloween, Marielle was Minnie Mouse. She didn’t really know what was going on and was really quiet. But she looked too cute in her costume! Aliza was just tired…
